Boeing resumes 737 Max production
Boeing said on Thursday it is Resumption of production of the 737 max after before Discontinued production of the aircraft after two crashes that killed 346 people. The company says the 737 program has started “building low-speed aircraft” because it includes more than a dozen initiatives to improve workplace safety and product quality.
“We have been on a continuous path to further develop and strengthen our production system,” said Walt Odisho, vice president and general manager of the 737 program, in a statement. “These initiatives are the next step in creating the optimal build environment for the 737 MAX.”
All Boeing 737 Max aircraft were discontinued in March 2019 after fatal crashes in Indonesia and Ethiopia worldwide. Official reports have largely blamed the plane’s design for both crashes, particularly an flight control system that is unique to the Max series. Since the temporary ban on production in January, Boeing has resolved the problems and mechanics and engineers have worked to “refine and standardize work packages in every position of the plant”.
The company says the 737 program will gradually increase production this year. However, since the Federal Aviation Administration has not yet planned a certification flight, a necessary step before it can carry passengers again, Boeing has not yet said when the Max could be put back into service.
