Bingie is an app for all your streaming recommendations and debates – ProWellTech

If you’re overwhelmed with choosing the next movie or TV show for Netflix, Hulu, Disney +, HBO Max, or any other streaming service, Bingie could be the app for you.

You may recall an earlier wave of TV recommendation apps from a decade ago like Viggle and GetGlue. These apps have largely disappeared. Most of us rely on social media and group chats when we want to talk to our friends over television.

However, Bingie’s co-founder and CEO Joey Lane pointed out that the world has changed since then and people need more guidance than ever when it comes to navigating the streaming world. (Mandatory plug: ProWellTech has a podcast dedicated to this exact suggestion.)

“I think the time is unique,” said Lane. “The amount of content that is out there makes it a huge challenge.”

He remembered interviewing potential users earlier in the year and having them say, “Let me show you this Notes section on my 60-title phone and you don’t know where to see them [and] Nobody to tell me, “Dude, that was awful” or “That was really great”. “

So with Bingie you can search for different shows and movies, then share a referral link with a friend and start a chat about that particular title, with a direct link to where people can stream that title. And if your friend isn’t on Bingie yet, the app lets you text them a link.

The Bingie team built the app (which launches today and is currently only available for iOS) with a digital agency Wonderful collectiveand Matt Knox of Wonderful is a co-founder of the startup. He described the startup’s approach to content discovery as “the human algorithm,” where you get referrals from people who matter to you instead of relying on Netflix technology.

Lane added that his hope is to make Bingie your home for all of your conversations and arguments about this content.

“There are no politics, there are no pictures of food,” he said. “This is about sharing this really, really fun content that is in TV shows and movies.”
