The Wyld Stallyns are back and have daughters! Bill & Ted face the music (the third film in the Bill and Ted film series) shows Keanu Reeves (Ted) and Alex Winter (Bill) do what they do best: bring people together with wild eyes through music and optimism.

The official Twitter account of the Bill & Ted film and screenwriter Ed Solomon tweeted a new trailer for the film on June 9th. The film was originally scheduled to be released on August 21, but was postponed to August 28, Variety reported on June 26.

The film takes place 29 years after Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure from 1989, but that doesn’t mean that the characters are necessarily smarter, just older.

Bill and Ted’s band, Wyld Stallyns, may have composed thousands of songs, but they haven’t yet written the greatest song ever written. In the film, a visitor from the future informs the duo that they will write a song that will save the world.

So Bill and Ted went on another time travel adventure to find inspiration for the perfect melody and decided to go into the future and take the song of their future self. Ted wonders if that steals.

“How is it to be stolen if we steal it from ourselves, dude?” Bill rationalized before cutting a solemn air guitar with her old buddy Death (a returning William Sadler).

It turns out that her future self is in prison and has built muscles. But they still rock, even if their song for Ted is “a little on the dark side”.

“But you know, that’s cool,” he says.

This time Bill and Ted’s millennial offspring are there to help. Samara Weaving plays Bill’s daughter Thea Preston and Brigette Lundy-Paine plays Ted’s daughter Billie Logan. In addition, a number of historical figures and some music legends will join their quest.

It is no coincidence that the trailer was released on Tuesday. June 9 has been known by fans for years as Bill & Ted Day.

The day refers to a line from Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, in which Bill and Ted will be visited by future versions of themselves outside of the Circle K convenience store. To prove that they are, ask each other what number you are thinking of.

Bill and Ted answer: “Sixty-nine, people!” The fans turned June 9 (June is the sixth month) into the day to celebrate everything Bill and Ted had to offer.
