Beyerdynamic has announced two new headphones and microphones for modern creatives. The studio over-ear headphones DT 700 Pro X and DT 900 Pro X from Beyerdynamic have a similar construction, but the latter has an open design and is intended for studio use only. The M 70 Pro X dynamic microphone is suitable for a wide variety of applications, while the M 90 Pro X condenser microphone is intended for more professional purposes.

The Beyerdynamic DT 700 Pro X and DT 900 Pro X

The latest studio headphones from Beyerdynamic both have proprietary “Stellar.45” drivers and a frequency response of 5-40,000 Hz. Previous Beyerdynamic studio headphones such as the DT 770 Pro and DT 880 Pro have neutral sound profiles that reproduce the bass and mids precisely. We can expect a similar sound from these latest releases. Neither headset produces much distortion, but the DT 900 Pro X has slightly higher total harmonic distortion (THD) measurements than the 700 Pro X at 100 Hz (0.80% and 0.40%, respectively).
Both the DT 700 Pro X and the DT 900 Pro X have a low impedance of 48Ω, so that they can easily be supplied with power directly from a laptop. They share the identical spring steel temple architecture and soft removable ear pads for all-day comfort. The three-pin mini XLR cable is also interchangeable, which extends the overall life of each headphone. The company also supplies two cables (3 meters straight, 1.8 meters coiled), a 1/4 inch adapter, and a protective pouch with each studio headset.
Creators who want headphones exclusively for studio use are more likely to be drawn to the DT 900 Pro X because of its open design. In contrast to the closed DT 700 Pro X, the DT 900 Pro X can create a more spacious, three-dimensional feeling of space, which some call the sound stage of a headset.
