- The Poco X3 was introduced in India.
- The phone is a regional variant of the Poco X3 NFC that was launched earlier this month.
- However, it has a larger battery than its Europe-facing sibling.
There is a new Poco phone towards India. The Poco X3 is a slightly revised regional variant of the Poco X3 NFC.
Despite the slightly different monikers, the two devices are visually similar, featuring the brand’s first original (and arguably divisive) design from 2020. That includes the large POCO logo on the back of the phone with a circular camera arrangement above it. The X3 also has a hole in the front with minimal bezels.
Where the X3 trumps its global siblings is in the battery department. The light stays on a sizeable 6,000 mAh battery, which can be topped up via Poco’s 33 W fast-charging system, which supposedly charges the battery in 86 minutes. That’s a much larger battery than the 5,160 mAh power bank on the Poco X3 NFC, but still not the 7,000 mAh memory on the Galaxy M51. You are missing out on NFC in India as well, as you may have suspected due to the lack of “NFC” in the name of the phone.
However, the main differences between the Poco X3 and the Poco X3 NFC end there.
We’re also looking at a 6.67-inch display with a resolution of 2,340 x 1,080 on the Poco X3 with a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a touch sample rate of 240 Hz. This refresh rate can vary between 50 Hz, 60 Hz, 90 Hz or 120 Hz depending on the application, which should further extend the battery life of the device.
For photographers, the Poco X3 is also supported by a Sony IMX682 64MP snapper, which is also used for the Galaxy M51. A 13-megapixel ultra-wide camera, a 2-megapixel macro snapper and a 2-megapixel depth sensor also provide the cut, while there is a 20-megapixel selfie snapper in the hole.
Other special features are MIUI 12 for Android 10, protection class IP53, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and two stereo speakers.
Poco X3: Indian price and availability
The Poco X3 will be available in two colors – Shadow Gray and Cobalt Blue – with three RAM / storage options.
The base 6GB / 64GB model will retail for Rs 16,999 (~ $ 231). If you need 128GB of storage with 6GB of RAM you will need Rs 18,499 (~ $ 251). After all, the top model with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage costs Rs 19,999 (~ USD 272).
As expected, the Poco X3 is also much cheaper than the Europe-focused X3 NFC, which starts at 229 euros (~ $ 271 US).
There is no shortage of options at this price point either, but the Poco X3 looks like an excellent option. It undercuts the Galaxy M51 and challenges the Realme 7 Pro for its value.
All models will go on sale on Flipkart on September 29 at 12 p.m. IST (2:30 p.m. ET).
