The Layla weighted blanket has limited size and weight options, but the blanket makes up for it with a well-made, luxurious product. The Layla is available in three sizes: Twin, Queen and King. I tested the queen, who weighs 20 pounds. To be fair, moving and maneuvering the heavy blanket is a challenge for me (as it’s about 7 pounds above my recommended weighted blanket weight). However, it feels amazing to be underneath and sleep.

Some weighted blankets remind me too much of cornhole bags sewn together, but I found the layla to be more coherent, and far less loud than others. The twin-size blanket starts at $ 129, but feels higher quality than the price suggests.

Its advantage, however, is that it’s aesthetically pleasing and feels more open and “lighter” (though it’s not easy at all) than other weighted blankets that I feared would be too hot or too suffocating to sleep well. When I used it on my couch or slept in bed, it didn’t feel hot. The breathable cotton is soft and high quality. It actually feels a lot like the simple cotton scarf that American Apparel sold a few years ago.

At $ 249, the blanket is expensive – in fact, it is more expensive than any other blanket on the list, except for gravity (also $ 250). You pay for the new texture, the fact that it looks objectively good on a living room couch and, according to the company, is made from ethically sound organic cotton. Since this blanket does not consist of glass beads or plastic pellets, the weight distribution remains even, so that it is less likely to slip when sleeping or falling asleep in bed.

If you are looking for a weighted blanket that is more useful and not interested in its design, I would say skip it and try a cheaper option.
