Best Google Pixel 9 and 9 Pro Cases Available Now

It’s here! The Google Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro series is out and about, and while there is little to no newness on the smartphone front, the cases are another story altogether. Oh, and there is one big thing: the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro are the same size! That means finding a case is far simpler, and let me tell you, the selection is great this year. Drumroll, please. Here are the best Google Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro cases you can get right now.

The Google Pixel 9 Pro is the Pixel we’ve been clamouring for for eons: a Pixel 9 with Google’s very best smartphone hardware and software features, now in an even more compact form factor. The same compact dimensions as the standard 9, and the same specs as the much larger XL, with 16GB of RAM, up to 1TB of storage, and the Tensor G4 chipset.

Spigen Thin Fit

Spigen Thin Fit Google Pixel 9 case

Slim and light

Soft-touch finish

Three color options

Very affordable

Limited protection

Looking for a minimalist thin case? Then the Spigen Thin Fit (PRICE HERE) is my pick. It’s just as thin as it says, with a shiny, huggable look and feel. Rigid polycarbonate on the back gives it slightly more drop protection but it’s really light and the soft-touch material offers plenty of grip. You used to have to get the Thin Fit in black, meaning it would match the Anthracite or Snow versions of the Pixel 9 but not Coral or Oro. This year, it’s also available in Metal Slate and Abyss Green, which admittedly isn’t as attractive as the bare Pixel 9 series but at least it’s an option.

Official Google Case

Ryan Haines / Android Authority

  • Great colors
  • Soft-touch finish

Made by Google, the sole officially licensed case for the Pixel 9 and 9 Pro is also the case you should be considering first: it’s slim, light, throws in some style at the expense of protection, and comes in too many beautiful colours to resist, with a soft finish that makes it feel very premium in hand. They’re also expensive, and a screen protector is probably a must anyway since the front lip doesn’t really cover much at all.

Cyrill Ultracolor

Cyrill Ultracolor Pixel 9 case
  • Nice colors
  • Minimal design
  • Grip strips on sides
  • Affordable

In the wake of official Google case above, if you like the minimal look but don’t have a budget of £60, here’s another very beautiful minimal option. They’ve got a really clean look and come in a selection of colours. The only real decoration is circle-shaped branding around the pair of camera lenses on the back. It has a nice soft and slightly grippy finish, but on either side there are two pretty grippy strips that stick out either side, making it very comfortable to hold. It just looks nice.

That’s really all there. It hits all the minimal sweet spots we want from cases. It’s simple and takes up minimal space and weight, ensuring zero inconvenience while wearing it, yet it still brings security to your phone. It’s beautiful, comfortable and best of all, it’s massively cheap compared to most cases on the market, so it’s a pretty easy recommendation for pretty much anyone.

Mous Limitless

Mous Limitless Pixel 9 case
  • High-quality finish
  • Good drop protection
  • Premium materials on back
  • Built-in magnet array
  • Pricey

Mous makes some of the more interesting cases, and if you had to just pick one, it would be this one. It’s not the thinnest by far, but it does have two things about it that justify the premium price point. The first is that when you get it, you get to choose a premium finish for the back of the case. You can choose from carbon fibre, bamboo and walnut. The second is a built-in MagSafe array.

It’s a brilliant case, but make sure you order the correct version for your phone. Although the phone itself is the same size for both the Pixel 9 and 9 Pro, the wireless charging arrays are in different positions, and the MagSafe chargers will only work properly if you get the correct case.

dbrand Grip Case

dbrand Grip Case Pixel 9
  • Solid protection
  • Expensive

And while dbrand’s skins have been popular for a long time, the Grip Case is an excellent combination of customisation and protection. The case itself has a thick bumper that wraps all the way around the sides, with an extremely grippy microdot texture on the back. If you’re sensitive to textures, this might go a bit too far, but if not, you’d be hard-pressed to drop it.

The second biggest one is obviously the skin itself, and you have a wide variety of skin to choose from. Not only do they look good, you can also even removed it and change your skin and look for a new one. The only real downside is the price. This is amongst the more costly Pixel 9 series cases on the market.

Peak Design Everyday Case

Peak Design Everyday Case Google Pixel 9
  • Gorgeous design
  • Great color options
  • Built-in magnets
  • Premium textures
  • Expensive

The Peak Design Everyday Case is arguably one of the best-looking Pixel 9 cases money can buy. Although the fabric texture reminds me of the official Google cases of days gone by, the craftsmanship and attention to detail coupled with the extras challenges Google’s own offering: the built-in array of magnets is in full support of MagSafe-compatible accessories, but the mechanical element is there if you pair with the appropriate SlimLink accessory from Peak Design.

A Pixel 9 Pro, in turn, comes with an option to buy the case with a small loop in the back for a little extra grip. My main real complaint is that it’s not coming in as many colours as last year’s Pixel 8 did, at least not at launch. And it is shipping just a little after the phone too, probably mid-September. But it’s also definitely worth the wait.

Caseology Parallax

Caseology Parallax Pixel 9 case
  • Great textures
  • Attractive colors
  • Solid drop protection
  • Affordable

My perennial pick is the Caseology Parallax, which has a hexacube emblazoned on the back and super-grippy ridges all around the sides. It’s not the thinnest on this list but it’s still got very respectable drop protection without getting into rugged case territory. The TPU material is still at a budget level, so it’s not as comfy as higher-end options, but all the texturing on the back and sides still means it’s got some great visual flair, and you have three different colours to choose from. It’s also extremely affordable.

Spigen Ultra Hybrid

Spigen Ultra Hybrid Pixel 9 case
  • Clear or printed designs
  • Good drop protection
  • Nice grippy sides
  • Affordable
  • Fingerprint magnet

On the easier stuff, the Spigen Ultra Hybrid is an easy recommendation, nailing the essentials, with an all-clear design, decent drop protection and a low price point, while still managing to throw in a few extras for those who want to be special. The Zero One edition of the case has the internals of whatever version of the Pixel 9 or 9 Pro that you have printed on the back and – because, of course, this is the Pixel 9 – there’s a MagSafe version of the case too.

Cyrill Ultrasheer

Cyrill Ultrasheer pixel 9 case
  • Frosted or printed designs
  • Good drop protection
  • Nice grip
  • Fingerprint-resistant
  • Affordable

If you have the same aversion to fingerprints as I do but still want a clear case, check out the Cyrill Ultrasheer: it has a frosted panel over the back with a harder, more slippery finish that will help to avoid fingerprint uptake. It too comes in lovely frosted tones, as well as a couple of printed options if you want something a bit eye-catching (the printed option being a little pricier, but still affordable).

Casetify Impact case

Casetify Impact Case Google Pixel 9
  • Thin but protective
  • Great patterns
  • Built-in magnets
  • Expensive

Casetify Impact: Best for addicts The Casetify Impact case works on its own terms. It’s relatively thin but quite protective. You can get it with a plain clear back, or with literally hundreds of printed patterns. With magnets in the back or, well, without. The catch is that all those extras don’t come cheap. But you get what you pay for, and if money is no object, this is another great case for your Pixel 9 or 9 Pro. Price: $$$ It goes without saying that if you expect the fastest wireless charging speeds with MagSafe chargers, you’ll want to get the correct version for that.

Spigen Tough Armor

Spigen Tough Armor Pixel 9 case
  • Nice grip
  • Great drop protection
  • Built-in kickstand
  • Three color options
  • Affordable
  • Somewhat bulky

If you’re looking to find the most protective case for the fewest dollars, the Spigen Tough Armor would be my choice. This case has the familiar two-piece construction of other rugged cases, with an inner rubbery slipcase and an outer rigid polycarbonate shell (similar to Otterbox’s more expensive Rugged cases).

This combination makes it very drop-resistant, with protected buttons (but no port covers). The back has a grippy finish that you can’t fully appreciate from photos, and also has a respectable media kickstand. This time, it’s available in three colors, without any obvious standouts or outrageous choices.

Otterbox Defender

Otterbox Defender Google Pixel 9 case
  • Great protection
  • Port covers
  • Grippy texture
  • Covered buttons
  • Very bulky
  • Expensive

If you’re serious about protection, your best bet is Otterbox. Its Defender line is the company’s signature series, and while not inexpensive, it features all the trimmings to give you the best bathtub-ready phone: thick bumpers, button covers, port covers, great grip, the whole deal. On the downside, expect to trade aesthetics and slimmess for anything that might fit in your back pocket.

UAG Pathfinder

UAG Pathfinder Pixel 9 case
  • Great protection
  • Nice grip
  • Rugged aesthetics
  • Built-in magnets
  • Expensive

Our final pick comes from a well-known rugged case brand: UAG. The Pathfinder is the most compelling case that brand offers, not just for looking great and protecting your Pixel 9 for years, but it also has an integrated magnet array on the back. I think it’s the best-looking rugged case on the market, and the Olive Drab colourway is a step above all the others. It’s expensive, but it’s certainly not the most expensive. You’ll have to be careful to get the right version for your phone to ensure you get the fastest wireless charging possible.
