Best 43-inch TV in 2020
A 43-inch television screen is small by today’s standards, but with prices between $200 it is also an affordable size. One catch: you have to forego the latest extras in this size since many 43-inch televisions are still available 1080p resolution instead of 4KFor example and very few have image enhancing extras like local dimming with the full array. This is one of the reasons why the image quality of 43-inch devices cannot approach its best 55-inch models (and later this year, 48 inches thanks to OLED). Nevertheless, many 43-inch televisions have intelligent functions that are crucial for a good viewing experience.
However, if you’re limited in size and budget, finding the best 43-inch TV screen size is a better option than 32- or 40-inch models, as you get more screen for just a little bit more money. Yes, I definitely recommend for larger bedrooms Go to a 55-inch screen if you can afford it Using a 43-inch screen saves you $100 or more compared to a 55-inch TV, and it’s still big enough to enjoy.

Do you remember how I said that smart TV functionality is king at this size? Roku is our favorite platform for live TV streaming apps like Netflix, YouTube and others and is even better integrated into the TV. Although it has 4K resolution with HDR, the image quality is not a big shock and even slightly worse than that of the Vizio below, but for most people, it’s perfectly fine. This little TV is also a little cheaper than the next two competitors.

This is one of the few 43-inch TVs available with our favorite LCD image enhancement feature: full array local dimming. For this reason, performance is slightly better in some areas, especially in dark rooms and in the home theater, than with the above-mentioned TCL. It also has these important smart TV functions. In our side-by-side test of larger versions of the two TVs, however, the difference was not great, and overall we still like the TCL better.

This Toshiba has the integrated Fire TV system from Amazon and is therefore a direct competitor of the Roku system of the TCL. In general, we like Roku better than Fire TV thanks to superior menus and search features, but this Toshiba has a cool extra that the TCL lacks: the built-in Alexa, which is available via the remote control.

- If you don’t like the integrated smart TV system, you can add a media streamer at any time. They are cheap and easy to use, and get updates more often than most smart TVs. Check out our selection of the best media streamers.
- Most of the built-in speakers sound awful, so it’s worth pairing your new device with a soundbar or other speaker system. Good ones start at around $ 100. See the best soundbars.
