Beats Studio Buds offer noise cancelling, Android support at a low price
TL; DR
- Beats has introduced the Studio Buds, which offer active noise canceling at a low price.
- Easy to set up for both Android and iOS, they offer Dolby Atmos audio in Apple Music.
- They can be ordered today for $ 149.99 and will ship June 24th.
You no longer have to splurge on devices like the AirPods Pro if you want Apple-made earbuds with active noise cancellation. Beats introduced Studio Buds True Wireless Earbuds that offer ANC and other benefits for a relatively low price of $ 149.99.
Much like the high-end AirPods, the Beats Studio Buds use external microphones to not only block out noise when you want to focus (including the wind), but to let them in as well. You can enter a transparency mode by long pressing the “B” button, which mixes ambient noise with your music to give you situational awareness on the road. A pair of beamforming microphones pick up external noise during phone calls.
These are also some of the most Android-friendly earbuds you can get from Apple. While the Beats Studio Buds are clearly quick to set up on iPhones and iPads, they also support Android’s Fast Pair to reduce setup to a single tap. This is also the first Beats theme to support both Find My on iOS and Find My Device on Android. You can get firmware updates on the device and the buds support your choice of voice from assistants on the Google platform.
There are still some Apple-centric features, of course. The Beats Studio Buds promise hands-free voice control only with Siri, and you’ll need Apple Music if you want to listen to tracks with Dolby Atmos for spatial audio.
The earbuds last up to five hours of playback with ANC or Transparency enabled, with a combined 15 hours if you include the battery compartment. Turn off ANC and Beats promises up to eight hours from the Studio Buds themselves or 24 hours with the case. You will then not use ANC for a full working day, although five minutes of charging is enough for one hour of listening time.

The design is workout-ready with IPX4 sweat and water resistance.
You can order the Beats Studio buds in black, red, and white today, though you’ll have to wait until the June 24 release date to receive your pair.
The Studio Buds may have long been the main models of beats. The combination of relatively inexpensive ANC with improved Android support brings them to a wider audience. In addition, they are the first true Beats wireless earbuds designed for everyday listening. Not only are they cheaper than Powerbeats Pro or regular Powerbeats, they also dispense with the hooks that made these Powerbeats models less attractive outside of exercise. These are the Beats Buds that are just as at home during a Zoom call as they are during a run.
