The Asus ROG Phone 5 is slated to hit the market next month, but the phone’s official details are already being released. DxOMark released an early audio review of the device that spilled the beans on its specs and design.
According to the picture, the ROG Phone 5 has a secondary display on the back – a detail we’ve seen in previous leaks. The point of this ad is unclear, but will likely act as a notification ticker or quick set access panel. There’s a red button in the lower left – probably a trigger button. The on / off switch and the volume rocker are visible on the right edge.

The previously discovered triple rear view camera setup can also be seen in the render. The label below the array confirms that the ROG Phone 5 uses a 64-megapixel quad Bayer sensor in its main camera. However, the details of the other two shooters are unknown. On the front of the phone is a large top bezel that houses one of the phone’s two front speakers and likely the selfie camera as well.
According to DxOMark, the Snapdragon 888 chipset runs on the phone. While widely expected, this is actually the first mention of its inclusion. A 3.5 mm headphone jack with an ESS-DAC also tops the list of functions. According to DxOMark, the ROG Phone 5 offers “the best audio performance of all phones tested so far”. This could make it an attractive prospect for gamers and audiophiles as well.
Despite this early review, Asus is still a long way from officially launching the phone on March 9th.
