TL; DR

  • Asus announced a flurry of new laptops in its ProArt, Zenbook, and Vivobook lines.
  • The upgrades include new AMD and Intel chipsets, OLED displays, and developer-focused additions.
  • The laptops will be available starting at $ 919 in the fourth quarter of 2021.

Asus is launching a variety of new products this week, from motherboards to projectors. But the stars of the show are arguably the additions to their laptop lines. The company has launched new Vivobook, ProArt and Zenbook products to its existing bouquets, bringing OLED displays and creator-focused enhancements.

ProArt Studiobook Pro series

First, Asus is adding the ProArt Studio Book Pro 16 OLED to the top tier of its list. As the name suggests, the laptop has a 16-inch 4K OLED display with HDR and 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space. Asus claims that these will be the first 16-inch OLED screens to debut on a laptop, offering 550 nits of peak brightness.

A new Asus dial controller positioned on the top left of the touchpad increases the focus on the creator and gives users more precision in Adobe apps. It currently supports Photoshop, Lightroom, Premiere Pro, and After Effects.

As a workstation, buyers can choose between the heavyweight AMD Ryzen 5000 H series or Intel Xeon CPUs of the third generation. The graphics come from an Nvidia Quadro RTX A2000 or A5000. The non-pro version comes with a Ryzen 5000 H-series CPU or an Intel Core i7 paired with Nvidia RTX 3070 or 3060 GPUs. Up to 64 GB of DDR4 RAM can be used on both laptops as well as Thunderbolt 4 connectivity, HDMI 2.1 and an SD Express 7.0 card reader.

The Asus Studiobook Pro range will start at $ 1,999. Availability in North America is planned for the fourth quarter of 2021.

Asus is also bringing the changes to its Zenbook line. Like the ProArt debutants, the updated Zenbook Pro Duo 15 OLED and Zenbook Pro 15 OLED also feature 15.6-inch 4K primary OLED displays. However, the duo add the secondary 14-inch tilting ScreenPad Plus for improved multitasking.

The duo is offered with an Intel Core i9 CPU, a first-class Nvidia RTX 3070 GPU and two Thunderbolt 3 ports. The Zenbook Pro 15 OLED comes with Ryzen 5000 series CPUs with up to 16 GB of RAM and an Nvidia RTX 3050Ti.

The new Asus Zenbook Pro series starts at $ 1,469 and will be available in North America in the fourth quarter of 2021. For those who want the Duo model, Asus has not provided pricing or availability information for this particular model.

Vivobook Pro series

Finally, the Vivobook line also gets new functions and hardware. The new Vivobook Pro 14X and 16X OLED models come with either a 16-inch 4K OLED display or a 14-inch 2.8K OLED display. Whichever you choose, Asus claims that these will be the first laptops to be VESA DisplayHDR True Black 600 certified. In addition to the screens, users can choose between Intel’s Core i7 H-series or AMD’s Ryzen 5000 H-series chipsets. Both can be combined with an Nvidia RTX 3050Ti, 32 GB RAM and a 96 Wh battery. For developers, part of the touchpad is also taken up by the dialpad, a touch version of the hardware dial used on ProArt laptops. This should also give normal Adobe users more refined control.

A cheaper body option is also on offer. The Vivobook Pro 14 and 15 OLED packs 2.8K or 1080p screens, the same range of CPUs as their siblings, and an Nvidia RTX 3050 GPU.
