Apple’s third-generation iPhone SE now has a rumored launch timeline
- The third generation Apple iPhone SE may not launch in 2021.
- Apple could wait until 2022 to update the compact flagship.
- It is expected to have the same design and screen size.
Apple’s bet to revive its compact flagship in the form of the iPhone SE 2020 paid off very much last year. The affordable 4.7-inch iPhone is not only a great performer with Apple’s A13 Bionic chip, it also has a powerful camera and good design. While we haven’t heard from Apple about a successor to the pocket-friendly phone, one new tip suggests it won’t be coming anytime soon.
According to renowned Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo (via Apple Insider), the third generation iPhone SE won’t arrive until the first half of 2022.
As part of its specification prediction, Kuo claims that the next iPhone SE will keep the design and screen size of the existing model. That said, you can expect the same 4.7-inch display with thick top and bottom bezels and a form factor suitable for one-handed use.
According to Kuo, the main changes will come in the form of an updated processor and 5G support.
What about the iPhone 13?
Kuo also revealed some details about this year’s iPhone 13 range in his latest note. He expects Apple to launch four models with the same screen sizes as the iPhone 12 series. All 2021 iPhones are expected to have a smaller notch and feature Qualcomm’s X60M 5G chip.
The analyst assumes that the two Pro models of the iPhone 13 series will include an improved six-part ultra-wide camera with a larger f / 1.8 aperture and autofocus. You could also get updated 120Hz LTPO displays for smoother function and energy efficiency. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard of high refresh rate screens. Since iPads already have this feature, it only makes sense for the iPhone to catch up.
