Apple’s 16-inch MacBook Pro gets graphics boost with AMD Radeon Pro 5600M
Apple added a new graphics option for its on Monday 16-inch MacBook Pro: AMD’s new Radeon Pro 5600M GPU. It offers higher performance than the current Radeon Pro 5300M and 5500M GPU options, but will cost you at least $ 700 more.
The 8 GB HBM2 of the 5600M GPU or the second generation memory with high bandwidth should make it considerably faster than the 5500M. It is the laptop version of AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT, The “ultimate 1080p gaming” was already offered in January.
“The AMD Radeon Pro 5600M GPU offers the optimal combination of computing power and energy efficiency and provides an excellent mobile graphics solution for a variety of demanding workloads on the go,” said Scott Herkelman, vice president and general manager for graphics at AMD, said in a press release.
The company also added an SSD kit for Mac Pro that allows you to update internal storage when your computer runs out of memory. The kit includes a pair of 1TB, 2TB, 4TB, or 8TB modules. Apple provides instructions for DIY upgrades on its website.
