  • A Korean outlet reports that the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy S21 Ultra will receive an S-Pen.
  • It adds that the Galaxy Note series is therefore being discontinued.
  • The point of sale also claims that the Z Fold 3 will hit the market in June 2021.

We’ve already mumbled that Samsung is working on adding the S-Pen to the Galaxy S21 Ultra and its foldable Z Fold 3, with the fate of the Galaxy Note series pending. A new report from Korea has only confirmed these claims.

Korean business every day Aju news reports that Samsung plans to add the Galaxy Note’s S-Pen pen to the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy S21 Ultra. In addition, the point of sale claims that the Z Fold 3 will have a slot for the S-Pen and that the foldable one will hit the market in June 2021.

It is claimed that the Galaxy Note series is therefore being discontinued as the S-Pen arrives on the above products. It wouldn’t be a surprising turn of events if confirmed, but it would still mark the end of an era. The Samsung Note series was first introduced in 2011. It made the big-screen smartphone popular and has been an integral part of the Korean brand’s portfolio ever since.

The point of sale also added a few more obvious details about the Galaxy Z Fold 3, as Samsung allegedly created second generation ultra-thin glass (UTG) with its own cover glass solution to enable S-Pen support. This is a crucial feature for S-Pen support as early folding papers have plastic screens that can quickly cause scratches and other damage.

Aju news further claims that Samsung plans to offer an in-display selfie camera for the new foldable device, but may drop it if the screen and image quality doesn’t meet requirements. In fact, the outlet says a pop-up selfie camera was being considered for the Z Fold 3 but was declined on the grounds of reliability. That claim also comes a few days after another Korean outlet reported that an in-display selfie shooter could come to the leaflet.

It seems like the evidence is just building up that Samsung may be dumping the Note series in favor of leaflets. But which device would you prefer? Take part in our survey!
