TL; DR
- A new update to the second Android 12 beta is available as beta 2.1.
- The update focuses on fixing some of the stability issues we saw in the second beta.
- The biggest solution is the lock screen error preventing you from swiping.
In early June, we finally took a look at some of the biggest features in the next upgrade for the Android operating system. This includes the new context-sensitive theming system and the super cool privacy dashboard.

That launch – Android 12 Beta 2 – also had some stability issues, however. Thankfully, Google is here to tackle some of them with a little update for this beta that lands as Beta 2.1 today.
If you’re already using the latest Android 12 beta, you’ll soon see an OTA notification for the update. If you decide to try the beta now, your installation will be this latest 2.1 version.
The most notable fix with this 2.1 update affects the lock screen. Previously, many users struggled to perform simple swipe tasks on the lock screen. These include ditching the notification shadow, swiping away notifications, and even swiping up to unlock the device.
Check out the other fixes below (h / t 9to5Google).
