Amazon Prime Day – when it is it and what you need to do to be ready
We have been waiting for Amazon Prime Day to start longer compared to previous years. However, one of the biggest, if not the biggest, online shopping event of the year is finally getting closer.
We will give you all the information we currently know about the event. This should get you up to speed so that with your smartphone or PC you can be ready to begin your Amazon buying spree.
What is Amazon Prime Day?
In 2015, Amazon decided to launch a special sales event for members of its Amazon Prime subscription service to celebrate Amazon’s 20th anniversary. Unsurprisingly, the event was dubbed Amazon Prime Day. During the event, the online retailer cut prices on tons of items. It was a huge success and the retailer has hosted the event annually ever since.
When is Amazon Prime Day 2020?
Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the retailer had to make some changes to its shipping procedures. The changes would have limited the retailer’s efforts to sell and ship the large amount of products that the retailer is expected to sell on a normal Amazon Prime Day, which usually takes place in mid-July.
With Amazon’s shipping efforts back to normal, Amazon has now confirmed that the event will begin on October 13th.
While the first event on Amazon Prime Day lasted a day, the retailer has made the event longer and longer over the years. In 2019, the event lasted a full 48 hours. This will also be the case again in 2020 as Amazon Prime Day will take place on October 13th and 14th.
You don’t have to wait for Prime Day to get great deals
There are plenty of retailers out there, and many are discounting products before Prime Day to steal some of the thunder off Amazon. If you’re looking for a lot, check out some of our best hubs to see if anything catches your eye:

What do I have to do to shop during the event?
The greatest requirement for participating in Amazon Prime Day 2020 is a Prime membership. It costs $ 12.99 per month or $ 119 for an annual membership. Of course, you may want to keep your Prime membership after the event. Membership includes access to many other services, including Amazon Prime Video streaming TV shows and movies, discounts on items even after Prime Day, and much more.
After logging in, all you need is your web browser on your laptop or desktop PC on the Amazon.com website or the Amazon Shopping app on your smartphone.
What offers can we expect from Amazon Prime Day 2020?
Amazon is likely to sell many of its hardware devices at heavily discounted prices during the event. These almost certainly include the Kindle e-readers, the Echo smart speakers, the Fire tablets, as well as the Fire TV sticks and smart televisions. During the period, you can expect discounts of 50% or more
Additionally, third-party vendors are likely to get huge discounts on many of their products as well. That means you can likely save a lot of money on purchases like smart TVs, smartphones, clothing, cameras, laptops and desktops, game consoles, and much more. Also look out for reduced digital prices for films and TV shows on Amazon Prime Video as well as price reductions for subscriptions to Prime Video channels.
In addition to the offers that will be available throughout the event, you can also expect special time-sensitive discounts as part of the Amazon Prime Day deals. These include Gold Box deals that last 24 hours or Lightning deals that typically only last a few hours.

Will other online retailers try to compete on Amazon Prime Day 2020?
Bet they do? In the past, retailers like Walmart, Target, Best Buy, and others have either matched or exceeded the discounts on many major products that Amazon offered during the event. We expect this to happen again this year. In other words, even if you don’t have a Prime membership, there are still ways to save lots of money on many products during Amazon Prime Day 2020.
What else will happen during the event?
For this year’s event, the retailer is offering its customers $ 10 credit to use during the event. You can get this credit when you spend $ 10 on items sold on the Amazon store by select small businesses. This special offer runs from now until October 12th. This should be a great way to save even more on Amazon Prime Day deals.
