TL; DR
- Amazon could soon launch a range of its own branded TVs in the United States.
- The start could already take place in October.
- The panels would be manufactured by TCL and include Alexa support.
According to a new report, Amazon could launch a new range of its own branded TVs in the US as early as October.
Per Business Insider“The closely guarded secret” sources claim that Amazon’s televisions will have Alexa support, will be between 55 and 75 inches, and will initially be manufactured by Chinese company TCL. According to reports, Amazon is also building a set of its own.
Amazon is not brand new to the television scene as it sells a range of televisions in India under the nickname AmazonBasics. The 55-inch panel offers 4K resolution, three HDMI 2.0 ports, Dolby Vision and HDR10 support and Fire TV OS. It also offers its Fire TV OS platform to third parties.

It’s unclear how Amazon might price its TV series in the US, but AmazonBasics TV gives us a rough guide. The 55-inch model sells for Rs 42,999 (~ $ 589) in India. We could therefore expect the cheapest model to cost over $ 600. Of course, Amazon would compete against Samsung, LG, and TCL in the US, so aggressive pricing could be a valid strategy to get its ecosystem into more households.
