  • The Amazfit Neo is now official.
  • Inspired by retro digital clocks, the Neo has a monochrome screen with modern convenience.
  • The device is available in China for around $ 40.

On the back of the Amazfit Band 5’s recent debut, wearable manufacturer Huami has now officially announced the Amazfit Neo. The wearable hit online stores in late August, but the device has now received its official shipping from the Chinese company.

The Neo is heavily inspired by classic old-time digital watches with modern accents and features a 1.2-inch monochrome LCD display in a chunky plastic case. The constantly on screen should allow easy reading in direct sunlight, but also has a backlight for reading in darker surroundings.

However, the screen doesn’t support touch input, so you’ll have to navigate the software using four physical buttons on the flanks. These details likely contribute to its long battery life. Huami claims that typical users will see around four weeks between charges with the 160 mAh battery. If you use the watch sparingly, this number can be extended well beyond a month.

The Neo also appears to be a pretty powerful fitness tracker on paper, offering 24/7 heart rate monitoring, activity tracking, sleep tracking, and water resistance at 5 ATMs. While there is no built-in GPS for avid runners, the Neo supports basic call and message notifications.

The Amazfit Neo is currently priced at 279 yuan (~ 40 US dollars) in China, but is also available in the Amazfit AliExpress store for 49 US dollars.
