Welcome to the update hub for the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4. Here you will find the latest information on software releases for the latest smartwatches from Samsung. We’ll detail the current firmware versions for the Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 4 Classic and notify you when a new update is released.
Both the Galaxy Watch 4 and the Watch 4 Classic were launched with Wear OS 3 and Samsung’s One UI watch skin. During the Wear OS 3 reveal, Google said it would release more frequent updates for the platform, but the company has since shared it Android authority it has “nothing to share” how often it wants to make new releases. Samsung will likely work with Google to release major software releases for the Galaxy Watch 4 series while keeping its core One UI Watch apps constantly updated.

Latest update of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 series
September 2, 2021: Samsung releases firmware version R8 ** XXU1BUH9 for the Galaxy Watch 4 series in the US, Europe and the UK (h / t TizenHelp). It adds the Samsung Health feature to Settings to manage all health related functions from one place.
There is also a new cancel option for automatic training detection and a volume adjustment option in the quick settings panel. In addition to general stability improvements, Samsung has also improved calorie measurement during cycling exercises.
Previous updates
- 08/22/2021: The first update of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 series was released before the wearables were shipped. It had firmware version R8xxXXU1BUH5 and was 290 MB in size. The update contained stability improvements and bug fixes. Overall performance was also improved, but Samsung did not reveal the exact details of these improvements.
