After years of releasing top class flagships, OnePlus is back in the middle class with the OnePlus Nord. It cuts off some corners, but we think a lot of people will really like this phone – especially given its £ 379 price tag.
OnePlus North updates
- Current stable version: Oxygen OS based on Android 10
- When will OnePlus Nord get Android 11?: September-October 2020 (estimated)
The OnePlus Nord was officially launched on July 21st with Oxygen OS 10.5 based on Android 10. Like other OnePlus phones, the OnePlus Nord will receive software updates for two years and security updates for three years – Android 11 in 2020 and Android 12 in 2021. It could even get an upgrade to Android 13 in 2022 as the OnePlus 3T received four versions of Android (Marshmallow, Nougat, Oreo, and Pie) during its lifetime.
OnePlus was launched (h / t) Gadgets360) Oxygen OS 10.5.1 for the OnePlus Nord just one day after its launch. The software improved the depth sensor and indoor image quality. It also optimized energy efficiency for 4K video recording at 60 frames per second and improved the overall video recording experience.
A few days later, OnePlus announced Oxygen OS 10.5.2 for OnePlus Nord. It came with a newly adapted firmware for the OnePlus Buds, optimized the launch of the camera with gestures, improved video calls and introduced the July 2020 security patch for the phone. In addition to other stability improvements, the energy efficiency for 4K video recordings with the front camera has also been optimized.
Connected: OnePlus Nord price and availability: the information you need
At the beginning of August, the OnePlus Nord received its third software update in the form of Oxygen OS 10.5.3. This was a minor one and only brought a few system stability improvements.
On August 10, OnePlus started rolling out Oxygen OS 10.5.4 for OnePlus North. This update improves the startup speed of the Gallery app, improves the viewing experience, and fixes an issue with music playing in the background while the front camera is in use. The update further improves the quality of video calls, the color accuracy and white balance of selfies in low light, and the vibrancy and color accuracy of the macro camera.
Later on August 24th, OnePlus introduced Oxygen OS 10.5.5 for OnePlus Nord. The update brought a number of system fixes and performance improvements for the phone. It also improved the sharpness of the front camera in low light, as well as the clarity of the macro camera.
At the beginning of September, OnePlus brought Oxygen OS 10.5.7 to the north. The update wasn’t particularly exciting, but it did bring improvements in power consumption and 4K 60fps video stabilization. Surprisingly, the August Android security patch was missing from the equation.
These are all of the OnePlus Nord updates we’ve seen so far.
