  • A YouTuber has uploaded a handy video showing the Mi 11 Ultra.
  • The phone has a secondary screen on the back, ostensibly for selfies.
  • It could also be Xiaomi’s first flagship with full water resistance.

Xiaomi launched the Mi 11 globally this month and it looks like a pretty solid flagship for the price of 750-799. But what if you want something a little more impressive from the Chinese brand? Fortunately, it looks like the Mi 11 Ultra is on its way to ticking every box.

YouTuber Tech Buff PH has uploaded a 10 minute long practical video (h / t: XDA developer) shows what he calls the Mi 11 Ultra (model number M2102K1G). The video, which has since been deleted but can still be found here, confirms a ton of specs and paints a picture of one of the most feature-rich flagship phones of 2021.

Probably the most interesting feature of the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra is the huge rear camera body, which not only contains a triple layout of the rear camera but also a tiny screen. This display seems way too small for regular touch interactions, reminiscent of the Meizu Pro 7 series. We have to assume, however, that it will be used for selfies with the main camera instead.

Speaking of photography, it looks like the Ultra model also offers an impressive upgrade over the Mi 11. It should offer a 50-megapixel primary camera, a 48-megapixel ultra-wide snapper and a 48-megapixel periscope camera with a 120x digital zoom. However, there is no word on whether it is a 5X or 10X optical lens. In the meantime, a 20-megapixel sensor is in a hole cutout in selfie mode.

The phone is also claimed to offer fast charging speeds for its 5,000mAh battery that offers 67W wired charging, 67W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging. The wired and wireless 50W charging speeds of the Mi 11 delivered charging times of less than 55 minutes. So expect the Mi 11 Ultra to shave for a few more minutes.

Another notable feature of Tech Buff PH is its IP68 water resistance. This may be the first time we’ve seen a Xiaomi phone with a significant (and official) water resistance rating. We have seen Xiaomi devices with splash-proof coatings before, but these never had official IP ratings and were not designed to withstand submersion in water. This is an important step for the company.

Otherwise, the device will appear to come with a Snapdragon 888 processor, a 6.67-inch WQHD + OLED screen with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, and speakers tuned by Harman Kardon.

Between the flagship silicon, sharp 120Hz screen, high resolution rear cameras, fast charging, and IP68 rating, we expect this phone to have a premium price (~ $ 1,000 or higher) at launch. Chances are, this phone isn’t limited to the Chinese market if a Filipino YouTuber has it in their hands too.
