The Samsung Galaxy A22 is now available in India (h / t GizmoChina). This came after the device debuted in Europe and the UK in early June.
While other Samsung mid-range models largely inspired the design of the phone, the A22 offers some downright affordable details. A large chin meets a water droplet notch at the front. On the back, the A22’s quad camera array looks more like the Galaxy F line than the Galaxy A32’s vertical arrangement.
That said, the Samsung Galaxy A22 is an impressive prospect for its price on paper. It has a 90Hz 6.4-inch AMOLED with a resolution of 1,600 x 720. Internally there is a MediaTek Helio G80 with 4G connectivity, paired with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of expandable storage. A 5,000mAh battery with 15W charging power supplies this cocktail.
The above quad camera has a 48 MP primary sensor with OIS, an 8 MP ultra wide angle and two 2 MP sensors for macro shots and depth data. A 16-megapixel selfie camera rounds off the recording smarts.
Other niceties are Android 11, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, Wi-Fi 5 support, NFC and a 3.5 mm headphone jack.
Interestingly, the Galaxy A22 seems incredibly similar to the Galaxy F22 on paper, except that the latter contains a larger 6,000 mAh battery. Take this into account that the F series phone costs a little more than the A22.
Samsung Galaxy A22 prices and availability in India
The Samsung Galaxy A22 is available in mint and black. Prices start at Rs 18,499 (~ 248) on Amazon India, which is significantly lower than list prices in Europe and the UK.
As a solid all-rounder, this sticker should give the Galaxy A22 a firm footing on the Indian market. It will compete against models like the Poco X3 – which has a 120 Hz display and a larger battery – and the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max – which has a 64 MP main camera.
