A OnePlus themes store is on the way
- OnePlus announced today that an official OnePlus Themes Store is in the works and will be available very soon.
- The company is hosting an Open Ears forum to get feedback on this new feature.
- Samsung has had theme store built-in for a long time, and OnePlus seems ready to join the fun.
If you have a OnePlus phone, you can use the settings to change some aspects of the general appearance of the device. This includes changing background images (obviously), icons, and even fonts. However, your choices are quite limited and in most cases you will have to change each aspect individually.
Fortunately, that will change in the near future. According to an official post by the company on its forums, a OnePlus themes manager called the Theme Store is on the way. It’s not years away either – OnePlus claims it will come with its “next major operating system update”. That probably means Android 12, which should launch in late summer or early fall.

However, it appears that the feature is not ready for prime time. In fact, it’s so early in the development phase that OnePlus is seeking help from the community to help build it. The company will hold one of its Open Ears forums on May 18, where select users can provide feedback on the OnePlus Theme Manager under development. You need to apply to join the relatively small team which you can do at this link.
Samsung has had a theme store for years. It’s possible that OnePlus is looking for One UI as inspiration for its own theme manager, considering that Samsung is clearly looking for inspiration for Oxygen OS 11 on Samsung’s Android skin.
For now, for the OnePlus Theme Manager, all we need to do is show the image at the top of this article. Hopefully OnePlus will release more information about this new feature soon.
