A mini washer for your TWS earbuds is now a thing on Kickstarter

  • There’s a new Kickstarter that you can use to clean your dirty earbuds.
  • The Cardlax EarBuds Washer is practically a tiny washing machine for your audio equipment.

Cleaning your wax-laden TWS earbuds can be a crude and hot affair. But there is a possible solution that a new Kickstarter project will bring to the table. The Cardlax Earbuds washing machine (via Gizmodo) is a pocket-sized automatic washing machine that promises to buff and clean your buds.

The earbud washer has a rotating soft brush attachment that first removes the mass from the openings in your earbuds. Once that’s done, the main compartment packs a rotating drum surrounded by a sponge that is “soaked with an antibacterial cleaning solution”. The earbuds are in the drum, which spins and polishes as it spins.

The Kickstarter states that it should take two minutes for your earbuds to be fully restored. While a pair of AirPods are the guinea pigs in the marketing material, the Earbuds Washer is also compatible with multiple buds from numerous brands.

The cleaning process uses 70% alcohol, so the project claims it is 100% safe to use even if your earbuds don’t have an IP rating. Users can remove and wash the internal cleaning sponge and other internals, but you should probably dry it completely before putting it back in the machine.

Overall, the product appears to be well designed and imagined, even if it’s a super specific niche. However, earbuds are growing in popularity, as is personal hygiene amid the pandemic. The project also came from a group that had experience with Kickstarter, albeit with a credit card-sized muscle massager.

The Cardlax Earbuds Washer is available for $ 33 if you lack automatic earbud cleaning in your life. The project has already quintupled its modest target of $ 5,000, so it seems that the concept is in great demand. The first deliveries are expected in June.
