  • Montblanc has announced the availability of its Summit Lite smartwatch in the US.
  • The Montblanc Summit Lite packs a body made from recycled aluminum.
  • It’s also supported by the Snapdragon 3100 SoC, offers custom health apps, and runs on Wear OS.

After debuting in Europe earlier this year, the Montblanc Summit Lite is finally available in the US. The latest Wear OS smartwatch from the German luxury brand is intended to appeal to wealthier fitness and sustainability-conscious people with the Summit Lite.

Aesthetically, the Montblanc Summit Lite is an inconspicuous, non-exciting smartwatch. This is a good thing if you love minimalist design, and there are plenty of other smartwatches out there for those who want more flash. The Summit Lite carries a 1.19-inch AMOLED display (390 x 390), which is clad with gorilla glass at the front. It is mounted in a 43 mm case made from recycled aluminum and stainless steel. Strap options include rubber or fabric in four color options.

Two “pushers” protrude from the right side of the Summit Lite and flank a central rotating crown. This little node should make navigating Wear OS menus and notifications a bit faster.

Internally, a 400 mAh battery supplies the Snapdragon 3100 SoC of the Summit Lite with power. Although the Summit Lite shares silicon with its older sibling, it has a smaller battery than Montblanc’s previous device, the Summit 2 Plus. This is mainly due to the Lite’s smaller case and space requirement. It also has 1 GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal storage and 5 ATM water resistance.

The usual smartwatch functions also apply. The Summit Lite offers NFC for Google Pay, GPS for runners and cyclists, and a heart rate monitor. Montblanc also pre-charges the watch with a number of its own apps. Cardio Coach tracks VO2 max and gives recommendations on training programs, while Body Energy uses activity and sleep data to record “mental and physical exhaustion”. Finally, there are also special apps for monitoring sleep and stress.

Montblanc Summit Lite: price and availability

The Montblanc Summit Lite will go on sale in the US starting April 22nd and will bring you back $ 860 through the official website. For comparison: the watch is available in Montblanc’s European store for 815 euros.

As for Wear OS luxury smartwatches, that’s a pretty high price tag. But it is largely true for Montblanc to shape smartwatches. The original Summit debuted in 2017 for $ 890. The Summit 2 Plus arrived at Verizon for $ 1,170 last year, despite having LTE support.

Even so, Montblanc hopes that its name, new eco-slant, and bespoke apps can give Summit Lite some sales success. But what do you think of the clock? Let us know in the comments below.
