A Galaxy A82 with better security?

After a plethora of leaks, Samsung has finally unveiled the Galaxy Quantum 2 in South Korea.
Visually, it is similar to every current mid-range Samsung smartphone. However, it is the company’s second smartphone to include a QRNG (Quantum Random Number Generator) chip. The new chip is smaller than the previous iteration, connected to the first Galaxy A Quantum smartphone, and uses light to generate “unpredictable and patternless” numbers. These numbers can then be used for banking and other services. Korean wireless operator SK Telecom believes that if your phone doesn’t fall into the wrong hands, this will make the device a tough nut to crack.
Beyond that development, the Samsung Galaxy Quantum 2 doesn’t really go much further, and neither does Samsung reveal much about the phone’s core specs. It has a 6.7-inch display with a two-year-old Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus SoC underneath. The Quantum 2 relies on a 64-megapixel primary shooter for imaging.
Is that the Samsung Galaxy A82?

The Samsung Galaxy Quantum 2 will go on sale on April 23rd, but pre-orders are already online. The availability seems to be limited to South Korea for the time being. Given the QRNG chips associated with many country-specific services, we don’t expect this phone to be available anywhere else.
There is evidence that a variant of the Quantum 2 would hit the international market as the Galaxy A82. It bears the model number SM-A826, which corresponds to the identifier of the Galaxy A82. There are precedents for that too. The Galaxy A Quantum – without the QRNG chip – was introduced worldwide as the Galaxy A71.
The Quantum 2’s official launch might suggest that the Galaxy A82’s debut isn’t too far off. However, don’t expect it to contain quantum security smarts when it does arrive at some point.
