Vivo just announced its acquisition of the circular smartphone with the Vivo Watch.
Before you ask, yes, the company was more concerned with the device’s hardware than its name. Yes, it’s another wearable product from a BBK brand. But no, it doesn’t look like Oppo or Realme watches. The Vivo watch probably looks better.
The 46mm version has a chunky round stainless steel body with an etched ceramic bezel. Two buttons on the flank connect an AMOLED display with leather or rubber bands. It’s quite an eye catcher. For those with smaller wrists, there is also a 42mm option that is similar to the Samsung Galaxy Watch 3.
As a productivity tool, the Vivo Watch allows users to schedule reminders, view upcoming tasks, and see your latest notifications on your phone. In particular, the watch can also be used as a remote control to take pictures on your device. However, we are not sure if this only works with Vivo smartphones. The onboard support for Vivo’s Jovi voice assistant, onboard music playback and contactless payment support also make the cut.
Productivity smarts are only part of the smartwatch experience. Therefore, Vivo has also equipped the watch with sensors to record heart rates and blood oxygen values. Users can also track sleep and stress levels, as well as other activity metrics like daily steps, floors climbed, and calories burned.
Finally, Vivo suggests that this device could be quite a street fighter that can last up to 18 days between charges. A water resistance of up to 5 ATM is a feature that also appeals to swimmers.
The Vivo watch is priced at 1,299 yuan (~ $ 191) in 46mm and 42mm versions. That puts it right between the ~ $ 300 Oppo Watch and the ~ $ 50 Realme Watch, although it’s a bit more expensive than the original rumor of 1,000 yuan (~ $ 147).
