A big upgrade over the Redmi 9?
TL; DR
- Xiaomi accidentally outed all the details of the Redmi 10.
- The budget mobile phone comes with the first 50 MP sensor in the series and also has a 6.5-inch 90 Hz display.
- There is no information about prices or availability yet.
We’re used to leakers posting details about smartphones well in advance, but it’s not often that a company accidentally publishes its full release. That’s exactly what Xiaomi has done with its upcoming budget contender Redmi 10.
The official announcement blog post has since been removed, but we managed to save a snapshot before then. Based on the details revealed, the budget phone is a significant upgrade over the Redmi 9.
It also showcases a more exciting face and borrows several aesthetic features from Xiaomi’s premium phones. It’s available in three color options, two matte options in Carbon Gray and Pebble White, and a glossy Sea Blue option.
Let’s go through the main specs, starting with the screen. Redmi 10 lands with a 6.5-inch adaptive 90 Hz display with FHD + resolution. The screen automatically selects the preferred refresh rate based on usage to save battery or improve performance. A MediaTek Helio G88 takes over the processing tasks, paired with up to 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. A 5,000mAh battery with 18W charging power makes this cocktail. A 22.5 W charger is included.
As far as the camera hardware is concerned, the Redmi 10 comes with the first 50 MP primary camera in the basic series. This appears to be a sizable upgrade to the 13MP shooter on the Redmi 9 that struggled in low light. There are also three other shooters, namely an 8 MP ultra-wide camera, a 2 MP macro shooter and a 2 MP depth sensor. There’s also an 8 MP punch-hole selfie shooter up front.
Other important features include two speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and MIUI 12.5 from the factory.
Redmi 10 price and availability
The blog post didn’t reveal the phone’s pricing, but we don’t expect Xiaomi to far beat the Redmi 9’s introductory price of £ 159 (~ $ 220) in Europe. The company will face a lot of competition in this category as well.
As for availability, the announcement post has August 18th as the scheduled release date. It is unclear if this coincides with Xiaomi’s planned release date. However, expect more details to surface shortly.
