90Hz display and a bug battery on a budget
TL; DR
- Xiaomi has launched the Redmi 10 Prime and the Redmi Earbuds 3 Pro in India.
- The budget phone comes with the first 50 MP camera in the series.
- It also gets a bigger battery than the global Redmi 10 variant.
Xiaomi only launched the Redmi 10 worldwide some time ago and has now launched a slightly optimized version of the budget phone in the form of the Redmi 10 Prime.
The new Redmi has hit the Indian market and carries almost all the specifications like its global cousin. That means you get the MediaTek Helio G88 processor on board. On the back you get a 50MP + 8MP + 2MP + 2MP camera setup. It’s a big upgrade from the 13MP shooter on the Redmi 9 Prime. The other three sensors in the range give you ultra-wide, macro and depth shots. There is also an 8 megapixel selfie snapper placed in the front punch hole.
Speaking of the display: The Redmi 10 Prime promises an adaptive refresh rate of 90 Hz on the 6.5-inch FHD + LCD display. However, the screen changes to a refresh rate of 60 Hz for video streaming.
The high refresh rate when gaming or scrolling is complemented by a 6,000 mAh battery, 1,000 mAh more than the global Redmi 10 variant. This is the only change the Redmi 10 Prime is bringing to the table in India.
Elsewhere, you get an 18W charge on board. The phone also supports 9W reverse charging which can be used to charge your Redmi earbuds, Redmi band or bluetooth speakers. A 22.5 W charger is included.
The phone also has a 3.5 mm headphone jack, 4/6 GB RAM options, 64/128 GB storage options that can be expanded via a dedicated MicroSD slot, and a fingerprint sensor attached to the side. MIUI 12.5 based on Android 11 runs on the device.
The Redmi 10 Prime costs 12,499 rupees (~ 171 USD) in India for the 4GB / 64GB model and 14,499 rupees (~ 198 USD) for the 6GB / 128GB version.
It will be available in the Amazon, Mi.com and Mi Home stores from September 7th.
Redmi earbuds 3 Pro
In addition to the Redmi 10 Prime, Xiaomi has also launched the Redmi Earbuds 3 Pro in India. The real wireless earbuds have a Qualcomm chipset and support the aptX Adaptive Codec.
They come with a 43 mAh battery in each bud and a charging case that provides an additional 600 mAh of juice. According to Xiaomi, the buds can last standalone for seven hours. You can record up to 30 hours of music playback with the charging case.
The Redmi Earbuds 3 Pro also have an IPX4 rating for resistance to water splashes. They cost Rs 2,999 (~ $ 41).
