9 Apps to Try This Year

When you come across a beautiful sight – be it a beach, a mountain, or your pet’s face – it sometimes inspires you to think about what certain sights and experiences mean.

These are the moments when you can post a photo on Instagram with a quote that is just as inspiring as the caption. But you can go further – and save characters – by posting the photo With the quote.

You’ve probably seen quotes on Instagram posts before, but may never have created a quote for your brand’s account. Here’s a recent Instagram quote we shared here at HubSpot:

Posting quote images on Instagram can diversify your content on the platform and also humanize your brand a little bit. Anyone can use a motivational quote on a busy Monday morning or a slow Tuesday afternoon. So, be sure to try an Instagram quote for your next post with the help of these free apps.

9 Instagram text apps for inspirational quotes

Selected Resource: 9 Instagram Offer Templates

HubSpot has created a collection of 9 Instagram quote templates for posts and stories – in addition to 13 other free Instagram posts for businesses. Download the collection of templates today to create free Instagram quotes right in Google Slides.

1. FaceGarage

Web app

FaceGarage is a browser tool that allows you to create Instagram pictures with overlaid quotes in a few simple steps. You can upload your own image or use one of the website’s background images, enter your listing, customize the font, text size, color and formatting and voila – you generate your image and download it to post on Instagram.

Our favorite thing about FaceGarage is that the images are not watermarked. So you can make nicer posts that don’t have a logo in the corner.

2. Canva

iOS, Android or Web App

Canva’s many features go beyond text-based images and social media. However, the mobile app and its gorgeous pre-made templates make them perfect for Instagram quotes.

The Canva’s social media post setting allows you to design banners, flyers, cards and posts of all shapes and sizes with one of hundreds of pro-level backgrounds. Of course, you can also take a photo on the go. When you choose your image, you can choose from 100+ fonts, adjust size and color, and publish.

3. Recite this

Web app

ReciteThis is another quick and easy browser tool that you can use to create listings for Instagram. In two steps you select one of the ready-made background themes, enter your offer and click on “Create”. From there, you can upload the picture to a variety of social networks (excluding Instagram) or download the picture to upload and post on Instagram.

The downside to ReciteThis ease of use is the highly visible watermark in the lower center of each image. However, depending on the design you choose, you may be able to cut it out using your phone’s photo editor before uploading it to Instagram.

4. Word Swag

iOS or Android

Image via Word Swag

Listed in the Top 100 iTunes Apps in the Photo & video This category is where you can use Word Swag to create text images that are as edgy as the app’s name sounds like. The app uses a special input engine to create new proposal drafts based on the background image you are working with.

Simply select (or record) your picture, type your quote into the app’s text-only editor, choose one of nearly 50 styles, and blend through the different choices. Word Swag offers literally thousands of quote and image options to choose from through a handy integration of Pixabay, a free image gallery.

5. InstaQuote

iOS or Android

This free app has many options for customizing your listing image, font styles, and color schemes. You can use your own photos or one from InstaQuotes and automatically upload your picture to Instagram so you don’t have to download and then upload it.

The downsides of many free apps – including InstaQuote – are the frequency of ad interruptions and the fact that many features are locked unless you upgrade to the paid version.

6. Text2Pic

iOS or Android

Text2Pic stands out from the crowd in many ways. It offers the widest range of font styles and formatting options – including 3D and shadowing capabilities to add more effects to your text. It also automatically connects to Instagram for seamless uploading and posting on the platform.

The biggest downside we found is the inability to upload your own photo as a wallpaper. However, Text2Pic compensates for this with a variety of different background options.

7. Quotes the Creator

iOS or Android

Quotes Creator has a nice feature that suggests quotation marks – including their attributions – to make it easy to create an inspirational post for you. We also like how subtly transparent the watermark is to make it as distraction free as possible. This is another easy-to-use app that creates listings for Instagram in just a few simple steps – with a simple tap of your finger to upload to the platform.

Quotes Creator’s stock background options are a bit cheesy. So we recommend finding your own and uploading them.

8. Quote Maker

iOS or Android

Quote Maker is another free app that is trying to upgrade its Pro version to unlock more background and style options. However, you can always upload your own background if you feel too limited. Where Quotes Maker takes the cake is its cool font style and effects. You can add neat decals to the brand name or add a stamp-like effect to a company slogan or mission statement.

We recommend exploring the app, but one more warning – it can be problematic as your design and editing actions get more complex. It’s best for simple pictures like the one above.

9. Text on the photo square

IOS only

Text on Photo Square is only available on iOS devices (for now). However, the difference from the rest of the package is that users can add quotes to videos in addition to photos. You can upload your videos and add quotes to give your Instagram followers a decent audio and video experience. A cool quote video might detract from the watermark, which admittedly is one of the bigger ones on this list.

Some of these apps may be worth investing in the paid version for creating more unique images – without watermarks – and posting quotes on Instagram. For now, try these free options during your next social media vacation to see if your audience is ready to be inspired.
