5 best search apps for Android to find what you want
Edgar Cervantes / Android Authority
It’s no secret that most of the people use google search. In fact, it’s so popular that “googling” is a verb. However, people get a little tired of Google for various reasons. Maybe the search results are a little too curated, or Google can’t find the correct keyword you entered. Anyway, you have options. Google won the search wars, but there are other search apps out there with different functions.
Brave browser

Brave Browser is a great all-in-one solution for search apps. It’s a full-featured browser with a number of desirable features like ad blocker, pop-up blocker, and HTTPS Everywhere. It also has its own search engine which is relatively good. The draw is that Brave Browser won’t track your requests or track anything. It has no idea what you were looking for or clicking on before. This, coupled with all browser functions, makes Brave an excellent search app for this category.
DuckDuckGo privacy browser

DuckDuckGo is one of the most popular alternatives to Google search. You can actually set DuckDuckGo as the search engine in Chrome and Firefox if you want, or just use the full browser version here. The browser version is pretty decent. It uses HTTPS Everywhere, tracker blocking and you can clear all of your tabs and browsing data with one kill button. DuckDuckGo as a search engine is a great option. It doesn’t keep track of everything you do, but it still has modern features like embedded replies, results with maps, and replies to social media profiles.
Firefox browser

Firefox is an excellent choice for people who want to try other search engines. The app allows you to choose your own search engine. To be fair, most browsers do. However, Firefox allows you to add any search engine as well. That gives you a chance to try out some less popular, obscure options that might not have a dedicated app. Firefox is also a good browser on its own, equals Chrome for most people.
Google search

Google search is an obvious option for search apps. It’s the most popular option, it has a lot of features, and websites are trying harder to rank it on searches. The benefits include loads of snippets, quick weather and sports results, integration with Google Maps, and many other things. Unfortunately, it’s not perfect. Many search results are poor quality posts from popular websites that don’t answer your question. You can use tricks like quotation marks to limit the nonsense that appears. So there are ways to combat bad search results. People like it for a reason.
Microsoft Bing Search

Despite a market share difference of almost 90%, Microsoft’s Bing is the second largest search engine after Google. As a search tool, Bing is more competent than the memes suggest. It performs almost as well as Google in some areas, better in some, and worse in others. The app also includes Microsoft Rewards that you get for using Bing. There’s also weather, a news feed, a visual search with your camera, sports scores, and other things. It’s definitely good enough to recommend, even if it’s not perfect.
