A round of updates for 2021 Porsche 911 landed, and they’re largely inspired by the Bonkers 911 Turbo S..
Porsche said on Monday that the 2021 model year will include three new option packages that will be available for the Turbo S for the first time, as well as the availability of InnoDrive and Smartlift.
InnoDrive and Smartlift are completely new in the 911 series and are optionally available for every model with PDK gearbox. Adaptive cruise control works with this new system to predict optimal speed for 1.8 miles in front of the car. Navigation data inform the system, which then informs the engine, the transmission and the brakes. Porsche added that InnoDrive takes bends, bends and all speed limits into account in calculations.
Smartlift is a complement to the front axle lift system, which now automatically raises the car based on GPS information when it is equipped. Every time the driver activates the front axle lift system, Smartlift stores the GPS coordinates and stores them for the future. If buyers want it, good news: the lift system is now standard.
The most important of the 911 Turbo S-derived options is the 930 leather package, which provides the interior with a leather pattern that resembles the first 911 Turbo. A quilted middle seat panel marks the biggest change, but the same quilting also finds its way to the door panels. Porsche also expanded the availability of its lightweight, noise-insulated glass from the Turbo S model, which weighs 8 pounds less than the weight of the car.
Aside from these major changes, there are a few other little things on deck for the 2021 911. The optional Sport Chrono package now has a tire temperature display, the Light Design package has a new name – now called the Ambient Lighting Package – and Python Green complements the color range.
It’s bigger news for Porsche 911 buyers in Europe. The Carrera S and 4S will now have a manual transmission option on the continent. The German brand has already announced this Row-your-own option for US models in October last year.
