After a few previous leaks, the Motorola Moto G Pure was officially unveiled for the North American market today. The smartphone, the latest in the Moto G line of budget phones, has some nice features that you might not expect for its price range.

The phone has a 6.5-inch IPS display with a resolution of 1,600 x 720. The screen-to-body ratio is quite high for this price range at 81%, which means more space for viewing content, and features a teardrop notch design for its front camera. The phone also has a Water resistance rating IP52 which means it can withstand some splashes and light rain. There is a fingerprint sensor on the back.
Inside, the Motorola Moto G Pure has one MediaTek Helio G25 octa-core processor with 2 GHz. There is 3 GB of RAM and only 32 GB of onboard storage, but you can expand this storage up to an additional 512 GB using the microSD card slot.
The Motorola Moto G Pure has two cameras on the back. There is a 13MP main sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. There is also a 5 MP front camera. Perhaps the nicest feature of this phone is the 4,000 mAh battery, which is said to last up to two days on a single charge. There’s a USB-C port for charging and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The phone ships with Android 11, and Motorola says it will get an update to Android 12 at some point in the future. The phone will receive security updates for at least two years, either bi-monthly or quarterly.
How to get the Motorola Moto G Pure
Pre-orders for the Motorola Moto G Pure are starting online today in the US through multiple retailers. The activated version is sold together with Amazon on Motorola’s own website. Walmart, Best Buy, and B&H Photo for $ 159.99. The official sales date is October 13th. Verizon will be selling the phone on October 14th for $ 149.99 with a new line of smartphones.
In the coming months, the Motorola Moto G Pure will go on sale through several US carriers, including T-Mobile, Metro by T-Mobile, AT&T, Cricket, Republic Wireless, US Cellular, Consumer Cellular, Boost Mobile, Xfinity Mobile and Spectrum mobile. Metro by T-Mobile offers the phone free of charge when you switch to its network. Look for the phone to launch in Canada in the near future.
