The 2021 Mercedes-AMG E63 S. The lineup is there and full of improvements. No, the improvements don’t extend to the powertrain, but that shouldn’t prevent this fast E-Class from being lovable anyway.

Mercedes-Benz unveiled the latest E63 S sedan and the latest car on Wednesday evening before a livestream debut on Thursday morning. The overall positive news for those who are enthusiastic about the large German blanks is that the drive train remains the same. For those who hope for the 48-volt mild hybrid technology that extends across the Mercedes-Benz portfolio, it has not yet arrived with the E63 S.

The well-known 4.0-liter V8 with two turbochargers with 603 hp and 627 pound-feet of torque is retained. A nine-speed automatic transmission also transfers all of the power to a standard all-wheel drive system. For those who want to be silly in safe conditions, drift mode is part of 4Matic Plus AWD technology, which allows you to leave either the sedan or the car behind. You can also choose your own adventure in six other driving modes.

Where the 2021 models really differ is in the styling department. The E63 S sedan and dare Both now bear the face of the AMG family with a wider grille, vertical slats and the massive Mercedes-Benz star in the middle. (The company calls this the Panamericana design.) Full-LED headlights and flared wheel arches make both models look more aggressive than before. We think they’ll wear the new grille treatment well, even if it’s a little more screaming than the old one.

The new look also better meets the engine’s cooling requirements, as the larger intakes direct the air to where it’s needed most. The front splitter can also be made in three options: silver, black or carbon fiber. Of course, the latter two options require more cash. What doesn’t cost extra are the now standard 20-inch aero wheels, which offer a double-five-spoke design.

Most of the changes come at the rear for the sedan, which has new, flatter taillights than before. The design runs into the trunk lid, while a new chrome strip connects both elements at the top. The E63 S also gets new taillights, but the redesign only focuses on the inner elements. The shape hasn’t really changed. A new rear bumper and optimized exhaust pipes put an end to it.

When you move inward, the interior remains familiar too, but there’s a new AMG performance steering wheel that the driver can grab. It also houses new buttons Mercedes-AMG says are almost seamless. Otherwise, the AMG seats remain covered with nappa leather like most of the dashboard. The MBUX infotainment system has been slightly revised and now has AMG-specific graphics. Two 12.3-inch screens for the instrument cluster and the infotainment system are available to the driver.

Mercedes-Benz has not yet announced an official price and has not confirmed when the latest E63 S sedan and the latest car will be delivered to dealers. However, one can say with certainty that prices should rise too high than the current MSRP of $ 107,350 and $ 111,750.
