  • Finally there is a new Paperwhite Kids Edition with a robust cover and more.

Before the hardware media event from Amazon next week, the retailer is already announcing a new version (actually three new versions) of its most popular e-reader. The Amazon Kindle Paperwhite 2021 (via The edge) includes a bigger screen and much more.

The standard Amazon Paperwhite display is increased from 6 inches to 6.8 inches by reducing the bezels around it. It will still have the same 300 ppi screen for easy reading. The new version also extends the battery life from six to 10 weeks, includes a faster processor and offers a USB-C port for quick charging. Finally, users can adjust the color temperature of their screen to reduce the amount of blue light produced when reading e-books at night. Price starts at $ 139 (with ad support) and $ 159 (without ads).

Amazon is also launching a more advanced Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition. It supports wireless charging, offers more memory (32 GB compared to 8 GB for the standard version) and supports automatic adjustment of the display lighting. It will have a starting price of $ 189 with no ads.

If you have children, the new Paperwhite is available in a kid’s edition. It has the same hardware as the standard version, but Amazon throws in a sturdy cover along with a free one-year subscription to Amazon Kids Plus. It removes the ability for apps, games, and other things that aren’t e-books. It also comes with a two-year extended exchange program. Its price is $ 159 with no ads.

Regardless of your choice, all Kindles will be delivered from the end of October.
