Honda’s three-row pilot wants to keep things interesting for the 2021 model year with a new Special Edition (SE) paneling, a nine-speed automatic across the board and additional standard and available content, the automaker confirmed on Wednesday. All of this helps to justify a modest $ 600 price increase.

This distinguishes the new SE, which is located between the EX-L and touring panels Special Optical improvements like black 20-inch wheels, roof rails, a redesigned grille and front and rear skid embellishments. Based on the EX-L panel on the middle level, the SE also offers functions such as leather seats, a foot-activated hands-free tailgate and a charger for mobile phones.

All 2021 pilots are powered by Honda’s reliable 3.5-liter V6, which is matched to a ZF nine-speed automatic transmission with paddle switches. This replaces the six-speed unit that was used in previous higher-volume fairings such as the LX and EX. Additional comfort features such as the two-zone automatic climate control and stopping / starting are now standard equipment. The premium, darkened Pilot Black Editions also offer a new, not so black color option for Platinum White Pearl.

The 2021 Honda Pilot is available now and comes with the standard Honda Sensing Suite with driver assistance and safety technologies, including automatic emergency braking and lane departure warning. An entry-level LX with two-wheel drive brings you back $ 33,370, while the new Pilot SE starts at $ 40,080 – both numbers include a target fee of $ 1,120.
