Google’s Wear operating system may be showing its age in some respects, but the ability to customize the watch face with a variety of options remains one of its strong points. Developers can create their own designs on the platform, giving users a dizzying range of choices.

But no fear. If you’ve just bought a new Wear OS watch and you’re feeling overwhelmed, let’s round up some Wear OS watch faces that we think really stand out.

Looking for something new? Try these:

A / D dial

price: Free with in-app purchases

A / D dial is one of the simpler dials available that combines an analog layout with a digital clock. While it is designed for round clocks, it should work fine on a square face. It also supports up to four complications, offers configurable fonts and colors, and also has a range of numeric designs. Adjustable second hand animations and ambient mode transitions add to its simplicity and style. The real icing on the cake? The face’s A / D dial is free to use, though the developer welcomes donations. This is definitely one of the best Wear OS watch faces to download.

Bubble Cloud Tile Launcher

Price: Free / $ 3.95

Bubble Widget and Wear Launcher calculate themselves as a widget and launcher for Wear OS. It turns out it has an interactive watch face too. Essentially, the launcher becomes the watch face. You will of course see the time. The watch face also has various shortcuts that allow you to quickly open the apps you use most. It’s one of the most unique Wear OS watch faces available. Be sure to check out the device compatibility list on the Google Play page to make sure your watch will work with it.

Facer

Price: Free with in-app purchases

Facer is the original app that allows you to create your own Wear OS watch faces. The app gives you a template, some instructions, and then you will go crazy from there. There’s a bit of a learning curve, but it’s not a bad thing. You can always download watch faces that other people create if the task proves too daunting. It has a choice of over 15,000 watch faces. Some of them are free and some require a small fee to purchase. It should work pretty well with newer versions of Wear OS, too.

Material style watchface

Price: $ 0.99

Material Style Watchface is a simple but functional Wear OS watch face. It offers a total of over 625 configurations in three styles, 15 accent colors and 15 background colors. The watch face can display a variety of information, including alarms, battery life, calendar events, and other data from virtually every other app on your watch. It won’t turn heads like some of the others on this list. However, if you are looking for something very clean, simple and functional, this is a great option. It’s also relatively cheap, supports four languages, and the developer seems to have friendly feedback. This only works with round dials, but that’s about the only potential problem.

Pujie Black dial

Price: $ 1.99

Pujie Black Watch Face is more of a dial designer than a single dial. It has 20+ pre-made designs, but users have practically unlimited options in terms of fonts, colors, complications, and backgrounds. Functionally, it is similar to widget designers found on Android phones. Pujie Black Watch Face also offers faces designed by other users. It can get pretty complicated, but that’s part of the charm of this face. Given that it only costs $ 1.99, the feature set is worth every penny for those willing to invest some time in their designs.
