1Weather

Christmas means a lot of travel, shopping, and other outdoor activities. It is important to know the weather at this time of year. 1Weather is as good as it gets. It shows the current conditions, a ten-day forecast and a 12-week forecast. The app also includes a radar, sunrise and sunset times, and much more. It also includes multiple locations. That should cover almost every use case we can think of. It’s also relatively cheap. The free version includes all functions as well as ads. It’s not a bad trail as long as you don’t mind ads in the free version.
Christmas countdown
Price: Free / $ 1.99
Christmas Countdown is an app with a Christmas countdown timer. It’s configurable with a number of small options and multiple home screen backgrounds. You can basically make it look any way you want. It counts down the time until Christmas and that is its main function. Its secondary function is an advent calendar as a second way to countdown to the big day. However, it also plays Christmas music, provides ideas for Christmas presents, and even gives you a holiday wallpaper to keep. The premium version includes two countdown widgets for your home screen, more customization options, and more Christmas music. There are no ads in any version of this app, and the developers usually do well to update them every year.
Google Santa Tracker
Price: Free
Google’s Santa Tracker app is for sure one of the best Christmas apps out there. It’s at least better than the other Santa Tracker apps on the Play Store. However, NORAD’s Santa Tracker app (Google Play link) is getting better every year. The app contains several fun little games and activities for children. These include Google Cardboard VR support, Android Wear support, and a countdown timer. On December 24th, he follows Santa’s path around the world. The app is completely free with no advertising or anything like that. It’s one of the best Christmas apps for kids. The 2020 version has not yet been released, but we will update the article as soon as it becomes available. Until then, we have linked to the official website instead. The website is fully functional as early as 2020.
I was listening to the radio
Price: Free / $ 9.99 per month
iHeartRadio is definitely one of the best Christmas music apps out there. It has a variety of vacation-themed radio stations, including new hits, old classics, and a mix of both. The app is also completely free as long as you don’t mind advertising. Other music streaming services like Apple Music, Spotify, Google Play Music, Pandora, etc. also have Christmas playlists. IHeartRadio, however, is the easiest to fire and forget. It’s also the easiest for people who haven’t used the music streaming service in general. Just open the app, search for Christmas and find the station you like. Done.

mint

Christmas can be a tough time for your finances. Something like mint can help. It’s a budget app that helps you keep track of your money. You enter your income and then add up all of your monthly payments and other expenses. The app shows you how much you have left for things like Christmas shopping or even extras like Christmas dinner. It is probably a good habit to have something like this year round, but it is especially helpful during financially difficult times like Christmas. Mint is completely free as far as we can tell.

Safe notes
Price: Free
Safe Notes is a great app for shopping for Christmas gifts. It’s a notepad app that is similar to popular names like Google Keep Notes. However, with this you can hide your notes behind a lock and key, so to speak. You can set a PIN or password lock so no one can come in and see what you are buying. The app UI looks a bit old, but the premise is solid. You can keep different colors per note and each note can be up to 250,000 characters long. It’s a super simple notepad app, and we only recommend it for its locking features so that snoopy kids and other important people can’t find your shopping list. Otherwise, something like Google Drive or Google Keep is the way to go.
TickTick
Price: Free / $ 27.99 per year
TickTick is a to-do list app. Christmas is a busy time of year. Apps like TickTick can make it easier to keep track of things. With the app you can add tasks with TickTick, organize tasks in different lists and even share tasks with other people. It’s great for Christmas gift lists if you are thinking of buying the right food and packing for that trip to see the in-laws. The free version contains all relevant functions. The Pro version is optional and really only required for use in Business Class. We doubt you will need the Pro version.
Zedge
Price: Free with in-app purchases
Zedge is probably the best notification and ringtone app on Google Play. It has a lot of tones, noises, ringtones and other things. This of course includes things for Christmas, Thanksgiving and other holidays. The ringtones and notification tones are usually of a fairly high quality. You can find all kinds of things here. The app also offers wallpapers if you want them. Most of the app is free with ads. There is some premium content that may require in-app purchases to be received. Of course, if you don’t like the wallpaper selection, we have a list for these too!
Whichever live TV app you like
Price: Free / Varies
Live TV apps are very popular these days and you have a few options. PlayStation Vue, YouTube TV, Hulu, Sling TV, and DirecTV Now are the biggest options. These services allow you to access cable TV in an app instead of a cable box. That way, you can get all of the annual specials from the shows you watch and all of the Christmas-themed content that comes out around that time each year. Prices vary, but most are good enough to replace your actual cable TV if you don’t mind buying something like a Chromecast.
Your favorite shopping apps
Price: Free
Some of the busiest Christmas apps are shopping apps. Literally, they will all have a variety of sales, special events, specials, and other various offers. Those shopping for others or themselves can find all kinds of great deals on things they have likely looked at all year round. Now is a good time to start your Christmas shopping.
Bonus: Google Duo (or Zoom)
Price: Free
The 2020 Christmas season is different than it has been recently. The COVID-19 pandemic has closed many places and governments are strongly warning about large gatherings for the holidays. As a result, some families may need to visit their loved ones virtually instead of in real life. Something like Google Duo should work fine. Google Duo supports video chatting of up to 32 people on Android and iOS. There’s a family mode with some fun filters and all of that. It’s a decent way to see everyone at Christmas without making anyone sick. Lots of people already have Zoom, so Zoom is a viable alternative if you don’t want to use Duo. Skype is one last good option in this area that everyone is familiar with.
